an outdoor classroom learning experience
2024 We are ready to explore! Check Calendar below for times and location.
Stella Maris Environmental Research
Stella Maris Environmental Research has an educational program for children and their parents! These experiences encourage environmental exploration and expansion of young minds. For a schedule of events, check out the calendar page.
Stella Maris explorations programs are a multi-age program allowing families to enjoy time outside in our local ecosystems while learning. Younger children will enjoy exploring, touching, seeing and smelling while older children and parents will be given an opportunity to create their own field guide, learn about conservation and navigate research techniques. This program is a great supplement for any homeschooling families, pre-schooling children, and school-age learners as an after school engagement opportunity. Baby wearing moms please join us to expose your youngest citizen scientist to the wonders of nature, which is good for moms and babies! Our programs are intended for children to experience nature, and classes may differ then a traditional classroom style learning. We offer optimal homeschool experiences by supporting you through your science education with our high school biology labs and dissections.
Locations will vary based on the program offered each week. Please see the calendar (or facebook events) to determine which event is best for you and your child. We have age-based events- ages 5 & up and 5 & under, but please feel free to bring your little or older ones along as well. Information about each program is here and under the tab "About our explorers program".
*Locations subject to change due to lesson plans.
Registration
Costs per activity vary. Many eco and science explorations are offered at no charge to the public and donations are also welcome.
Science Labs and dissections have variable registration options and are discussed by group, check under the Homeschool Labs tab.
