Jumping into the middle of the tide pool
for pre-teens
-And making a splash!
Middle school is a great age of wonder and we can help guide that fascination by turning over rocks, digging into science and diving into scientific exploration. The tide pool meets in the field every-other-week to explore marine science and coastal ecology topics. Each class will incorporate a hands-on exploration experiment. Beginning in early September and continuing to May, our own scientist guides students through intriguing lessons and hands on activities. Students develop the knowledge base and scientific mind needed to see the wonders of this planet thought a marine biology lens. Students will be prepared to participate in the Teen volunteer or Teen Research Groups.
Students should be 6th-8th grade (11-14 yrs old, Mature 5th graders and 9th graders who aren't ready for high school level science are welcome join).
Classes meet every other Thursday @1pm at locations throughout Brevard County for the 2023-2024 school year.
Cost: $280 per year per child.
Which goes to support the mission of Stella Maris Environmental Research. If there is a financial hardship, arrangements can be discussed.
***Parents are expected to stay on site and supervise their own children. Younger siblings who are not disruptive to class are welcome to remain on site with parents.***
Attendance Policy-If 3 or more consecutive classes are missed without discussion, your students will be dropped from the class and their spot forfeited.
