Sebastian Inlet Clams Inc.Sebastian Inlet Clams Inc. has been operating for 22 years at this location. We produce clam seed for the Aquaculture industry that is thriving in Cedar Key on The Gulf Coast, and used to farm eating-sized clams locally, but it is not a sustainable venture anymore in the IRL due to the polluted freshwater entering the lagoon more frequently and in larger volumes. A large contributor to this is increasing development. We, as the last remaining shellfish hatchery in the area, want to partcipate in the restoration efforts. Clams and oysters can contribute to clearing the water of harmful algal blooms (HABs). Clear water is needed for better light penetration to enable the seagrasses to recover. Healthy seagrass beds are the ultimate goal and indicator of a healthy lagoon.
