Come and experience a guided sea turtle walk! Join us for a permitted public turtle walk offered within the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge to experience an unforgettable creature within her natural nesting beach. Guest will learn about nesting sea turtles found on Brevard County beaches, the threats they face and what they can do to help protect them. The evening will culminate with the opportunity to observe a nesting loggerhead.
It is a lady's prerogative and she may change her mind, so we can not guarantee a nesting observation at each turtle walk. With that, our walks are held at Coconut Point Park, inside the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge, the most important loggerhead nesting beach in the world! One quarter of all loggerhead nests occur inside the refuge, which ranges annually between 8,000 to 20,000 nests.
Our trained scouts are a group of dedicated marine biologists and seasoned volunteers. They eagerly scout the beach for a nesting loggerhead sea turtle, using proper techniques to avoid causing disturbances. They are knowledgable and available to answer any of your questions during the event, even if it is just a general marine biology question!
Arrival time is 8:55 pm. Adults and children ages 7+ are welcome to attend. Be prepared to walk up to 1/2 mile (likely less) on the beach to observe a nesting Loggerhead female. Water and bug spray could enhance your experience. Cell phones, cameras and flashlights will stay cozy in your car or at home. Please download the guidelines below to ensure the best experience for yourselves and our nesting mommas.
Events are rain or shine, lightning can delay events. No refunds permitted once registered and we thank you for your donation to support saving sea turtles.

Now you can see in the dark with usStella Maris Environmental Research received a previous grant form the Florida Sea Turtle Grants Program, which is funded by the sales of the sea turtle specialty license plate. You can receive a photo from your walk thanks to this support!
This grant is to support Night Vision Technology and turtle skull replicas for education, which will benefit Florida sea turtles. We were chosen for the award through a competitive application process that is open to coastal county governments, educational institutions and Florida-based nonprofit groups striving to improve the livelihood of sea turtles and conserve Florida habitats. This addition of technology will enhance our walks and we will provide you with an upgraded picture taken while on your walk.
