Clams and oysters may be small, but they’ve got the biggest job of all! Whether you love to have them for dinner or care about their crucial impact on the environment, there’s something for you to learn with us!
During this FREE tour from 11:30am-12:30pm, you will be guided through Sebastian Inlet Clams Hatchery and Land based nursery and learn about the clam and oyster life cycle, environment, why they are so important to a healthy Indian River Lagoon, how stormwater pollution impacts them, algae, and more! You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how clam and oyster farming works and even take a peek at living larvae and adults! Please wear closed-toe shoes.
Note: All participants are required to sign a waiver upon arrival. Terrain during the tour can be uneven and there may be hoses on the ground, uneven brick, etc.
