MENTORSHIPS, VOLUNTEERING, JR. SCIENTISTS, TEEN RESEARCHERS + Homeschool labs
Our desire is for teens to gain a deeper understanding of biology concepts, see practical application of statistical analysis, gain public speaking skills, and build an impressive resume. They will enter college or the workforce with true research experience and solid teamwork and communication skills. They also earn community service hours applicable to the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. And perhaps most importantly, they will know that they made a measurable impact through their outreach.
This team represents Stella Maris at outreach events, assists with summer camps, and helps to keep our coastal areas clean, especially sea turtle nesting habitats on our beaches.
Students who just miss the line for the age requirement on Stellas Teen Researchers can participate in this bi- monthly homeschool class about marine science, and may be called upon to help volunteer with age appropriate activities.

Jr. Scientists are guided under a higher level marine biologist and gain real world experience into working inside the biological fields. In turn, the mentors will also lead younger aspiring students.
This Program has been financially supported by the Fort Pierce Yacht Club and private donors. |
